SPECIAL WEATHER WARNING FOR NEXT 3 DAYS

SEPTEMBER 06, 2011

Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted that the current spell of heavy rains in Sindh is very likely to continue for another 3 days (September 06-08, 2011), resulting in widespread heavy to very heavy rains in Sukkur, Mirpur Khas and Hyderabad Divisions of Sindh Province, whereas moderate to heavy rains are expected in Larkana and Karachi Divisions. These rains may cause more flooding in the said areas of Sindh during the period (September 06-08, 2011).

2. Pakistan Meteorological Department has further informed that a Well Marked Low Pressure Area (Strong Weather System), presently causing heavy rains over Rajasthan (India), is likely to grip Sindh today. Under the influence of this weather system, widespread heavy rains are expected in Sindh, Southern Punjab and Eastern Balochistan during next 3 days. Heavy rains may cause urban flooding and flash flooding in the local rivers/nullahs of Eastern Balochistan and D.G Khan Division during the period. Scattered rains are also expected over upper Punjab, Kashmir and isolated rains over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during next 2-3 days.

3. All concerned agencies are advised to remain ALERT and take all necessary precautionary measures to avoid loss of human lives and damages to property.
